Secateurs A

French. 1850.  Ref: Daniel Boucart illus. Stamped 'J' 'Marizy a Villiers-au-bois'. C1850. Serpo-sécateur : Cet outil est aussi appelé « corbet-sécateur », ou encore « sécateur Champenois ». Il a peut-être inventé au 19° siècle par M. MARMUSE, coutelier à Paris (voir les photos jointes), puis fabriqué par d'autres couteliers, notamment en Champagne. Son design le distingue vraiment des autres sécateurs. Secateurs invented in 1815 by Bertrand de Moleville in France. A rare chance to purchase a stunning historic garden tool in good order. Mahohany handle with brass escutcheon and turn lock. 9 inches (23cms).


Asparagus Knife A

English early 20C. Steel blade with terminal splay. Pretty turned ash handle. Dainty size. 12 inches (30cms).


Dibber B

English. 20C. Turned Beechwood with traces early varnish. A pretty garden tool. 9 inches (23cms).


Cucumber Straightener A

Invented by Stephenson of Rocket fame 1845 having become frustrated with crooked cucumbers in his Tapton House gardens.

This example is in perfect condition and one of the largest examples. Length 26 inches (66cms).


Lavender Hook A

English. late 1800's. A very rare and beautifully crafted Lavender or Grass Hook by Holtzappfel. The fine steel blade is stamped very faintly 'Holtzappfel & Sons'. Beautifully patinated ash handle. 15.5 inches (39cms).
